Annual UBOC

It’s that time of year again! It is a great time to download free poker at UB because it is almost time for UBOC 6. The latest UB Online Championship has a total of 29 events, all with guaranteed prize pools. Winning one of the events nets you a special UBOC watch, and if you were a winner in UBOC 2010, you have the Tournament of Champions to look forward to. If you were thinking about using Ultimate Bet for Mac, now is definitely the time!

The first tournament is the No Limit Holdem Deep Stack event for $500+$30. Those that have utilized free poker training to improve at Omaha will be able to test themselves on January 18th. If you like heads-up, Event 13 is the tournament for you, but be sure to plan ahead because there is no late registration for this event.

The High Roller event is a $2,100 buy-in and takes place on January 23rd. The Championship Event is on January 30th and features a $1,050 buy-in. If you have just started on money poker sites and find that these stakes are way out of your bankroll, you will have several chances to satellite into the events. Step satellites start as low as $0.10.

The other option for those new to online poker rooms is Mini-UBOC. Mini-UBOC mirrors the UBOC events but the buy-ins are much smaller. Obviously the prize pools will be much smaller as well, but first place in all the events will still be a handsome addition to your bankroll!

We have been waiting all year for UBOC to come around again, so fire up UB and join in on the action. If you have an Apple computer, you do not have to worry because UB is one of the best Mac poker sites around. See you at the tables!

Royal Flush Jackpot

Omaha players looking to download free poker should consider UB. They started a unique Royal Flush promo that works like a bad beat jackpot. Basically there is a progressive Royal Flush Jackpot, and players that hit royal flushes receive a cash bonus. Pretty cool way to reward someone for the most awesome hand in poker.

If you are familiar with the PartyPoker bonus code, you will know that certain tables offer the chance to win a bad beat jackpot. Someone losing a hand with quad 8s or better wins 50% of the jackpot, and the rest of the table also wins a percentage of the jackpot. You will see that the Royal Flush promo is very much like this bad beat promo. 50% of the jackpot goes to the player with the royal flush, 25% goes to the players at the table where the royal flush was hit, and then the remaining 25% is split amongst the other players at Jackpot tables of the same stake. You have more chances to receive cash than at most other US poker sites!

One thing to note is that just 65% of the jackpot is awarded when someone hits a royal flush. 25% goes to start the next Jackpot and then 10% goes to UB as rake. If you have experience with a PokerStars bonus code, you might complain that UB is raking a tenth of the jackpot, but the folks at UB need to get paid somehow too!

If you want to win the Jackpot, you have to sit down at a Royal Flush Jackpot table. Free poker no downloads is available at UB, so you can play these tables even if you don’t want to download the software. These tables contribute 50 cents per hand to the Jackpot.

There are a couple other conditions to keep in mind for winning the Royal flush Jackpot on this Mac poker site. The Royal Flush hand must have at least four participants, and the hand needs to go to show down. If you were sitting out when the Royal was won, you will not receive a share of the winnings. If two royal flushes hit at the same time on the site, the hand that started first will be deemed the winner. I think I would hide behind my slot machine download for some time if I lost the Jackpot to another royal flush hand that started mere seconds before mine. I would be so mad!

If you are sick of Holdem and want to give Omaha a try, definitely consider UB. It is comforting that you are not required to download PokerStars if you are interested in the less common poker games. PokerStars is great but it is nice to have options!

UB TLB

If you want to play tournament poker, it’s a great idea to download free poker on the Internet. Pretty much every major poker site has tournament leaderboards, so today I will tell you about the ones found on UB. In total there are four different leaderboards, and each leaderboard has cash prizes to be won.

Like on the other best US poker sites, you will be ranked based on a points total. The number of points received in a given tournament depends on the prize pool and where you finish. The site uses the same formula for all its leaderboards.

Like many of the best Mac poker sites, UB has decided to have leaderboards for the week, month, and year. The leaderboard for the week uses your best 10 MTT results, and the person finishing in 1st wins $1,000. You’ll need 20 good results to win the monthly leaderboard, where the total prize pool is $14k and first place is $6.5k. Lastly, the yearly leaderboard uses your best 100 tournament finishes, similar to the leaderboards you get with the PokerStars Bonus code. The top 50 players get entered into an exclusive $36k freeroll. The top ten players receive cash prizes. The best prize is given to the top 2, however: a WSOP Main Event buy-in worth $10,000!

If you do not have much experience on Mac Poker sites, it might be beneficial to try the SnG leaderboards instead. They are more friendly to new players since there are 3 separate divisions for different buy-in amounts. The Diamond division is for buy-ins less than $20. The prize pool for the week in Diamond is $1,500 while the monthly prize pool is $5,000. The Heart division is for people that play between $21 and $50. The Heart division has $3,000 weekly and $7,000 monthly. If you can stand to give up Internet slots to dedicate your free hours to SnGs, you might want to try the Spade division for buy-ins higher than $51. Every week $6k is won while every month $10k is won in this division.

UB did a great job to make their leaderboards exciting and jam packed with great prizes. It might be a good idea to watch some poker videos to improve your game. It is definitely worth it if you can win a Main Event seat by doing so!

Adam “Roothlus” Levy

People wanting to download free poker will be considering UB, so it would be good to meet another UB advocate in Adam Levy. You might better recognize him as “Roothlus” since that is the username he chose to use on US friendly poker sites. The 28 year old professional was born in New York but he has since moved away and now lives in Florida. Before he became a professional poker player, he was a student and used to wait tables.

Levy’s cashes on the best online poker sites surpass the $3 million mark. An extraordinary thing to know regarding Levy’s online scores is that the most he has ever won in a single tournament is $387.5k, yet his cashes still total to well over $3 million. This fact points to one thing: his success has not been due to luck and he is a consistent winning player. His $387,500 score was obtained by placing 2nd in an FTOPS event on his Full Tilt Poker download back in 2009. His second largest cash is scaled back a bit to $80k, and this was also won on Full Tilt. His most impressive PokerStars score was a few years ago when he finished 3rd in the Sunday Million for $56,990.

This UB pro has some live cashes in US poker rooms to be proud of, as well. He actually just won his largest cash ever in the 2010 WSOP Main Event after finishing just outside the final table in 12th place. Missing the November Nine was very disappointing, but he must have been pleased to add an extra $635k to his bank account. Prior to that, his largest prize in a live tournament was for $266,445 in 2008.

Levy has his day mapped out perfectly when he plays online poker. He usually gets out of bed a couple hours before playing on money poker sites because going to his computer first thing after waking up isn’t his style. He prefers to have a good breakfast and a shower first thing. He likes to listen to music while he plays although you might be surprised to learn his genre of preference: techno. After his day of playing on the best US poker sites is over, he jumps onto his XBOX and plays FIFA. Rigid schedules work well for some people and it would appear Levy is one of these people.

If you would like the chance to sit at the table with Levy one day, there is no substitute for playing tons of hands and studying. There is plenty of free poker training online so even the most inexperienced player should make progress fairly quickly.

Eric Baldwin

If you have the intention to download free poker but you cannot choose between the multitude of US poker sites, I’ll introduce you to Eric Baldwin, another UB representative. The 27 year old poker player has had great success with tournament poker since he turned pro. He was born in Wisconsin, so he was a student at the University of Wisconsin for a Psychology degree with a minor in Mathematics. He currently lives in Las Vegas.

Baldwin certainly frequents the best US poker sites, but he’s known for his live poker cashes which exceed $3 million. He won a bracelet and $522k back in WSOP 2009 in Event 34, a $1.5k buy-in. He did quite well in this year’s WSOP as well, although he did not win another bracelet. He went deep in the Main Event, and he received $138k for a 59th place finish.

This young tournament star can also be found playing the big WPT events. In late 2009 he won an event in the Five Diamond World Poker Classic for $256,660. In August 2009 he placed 3rd in a Legends of Poker event, and in 2008 he placed first in Event 2 for $148,860 in the Five Star World Classic Poker Classic. I wonder if Baldwin ever makes time for a free slots download like some of the other poker pros.

Since he is sponsored by UB, Baldwin plays the rest of his poker on top Texas Hold’em sites. He claims that online games are much more aggressive preflop than live games. He tries to earn most of his chips without showdown when he plays online in comparison to live where he will attempt to see many pots multi-way and win chips that way.

Card Player named Baldwin the 2009 “Player of the Year”, so he is obviously doing something right when it comes to poker. When you first get into money poker sites, be sure to carefully consider which site you choose. An Everest Poker download can’t be a bad option, but as you’ve seen from my previous articles, UB a great site too.

Brandon Cantu

Brandon Cantu agrees with Tiffany Michelle: he would also encourage you to download free poker from the UB site. After Cantu learned to play poker in Washington from his grandfather, he got dealt hands in casinos in Oregon. He currently lives in Las Vegas since he can easily get to casinos for US players there.

The decision to go pro came four years ago in Vegas once he won over $750k for 1st place in a WSOP event. An interesting fact about that bracelet win is that it was his very first major tournament. Since then, he has cashed several more times in US poker rooms. Where WSOP is concerned, he won a second bracelet in 2009 in Event 48, a PLO tournament, for $228,967. His PLO win came a few days after a 2nd place finish in Event 39. He earned an impressive $403,951 in that NLHE event. The highest he ever placed in the ME was 2 years back when he took 20th for $257,334.

He also has three cashes in the World Poker Tour including his first WPT title in the Bay 101 Shooting Star championship for $1 million. In that tournament he also busted 6 bounty players good for $5k a piece! As such, he got the nickname “The Bounty Hunter”. It would make sense if the six pros he took out of that tournament wished he played flash Texas Holdem for a living instead!

Cantu has cashed for over $3.4 million in live tournaments. Since he’s a UB pro you must be wondering how he does in online casinos for USA players. Because he prefers live poker, he actually doesn’t play on money poker sites that often. As you expected, though, being a UB rep means that he has to play at least a bit online. His UB screen name is “brandoncantu”, and he can be found playing tournaments and high stakes cash games.

If you asked Cantu how you can see better tournaments results, he would tell you to be more aggressive. You should forget about your intention to download free casino games if you want a chance to become successful like Cantu. It would be way more worthwhile to get on a poker site and start building a bankroll.

Tiffany Michelle

Looks like it’s time for another blog entry! Today we shall discuss another UB bonus supporter, Tiffany Michelle. Despite the fact she’s only been playing professionally for four years, being attractive and participating in the World Series has caused her to turn heads in the poker community. She created the record for the biggest tournament field ever conquered by a female after coming in 17/6,844 in the WSOP Main Event back in 2008. Once she got deep in the tournament she wore a UB patch, so it’s been a couple years since she started encouraging the UB bonus.

The 25 year old female player was born in Los Angeles. She attended UCLA for a theatre program, and she has been on a number of television programs including American Dreams and The Amazing Race. She is into writing and singing her own songs, and she’s even won a beauty pageant. It didn’t take her long to find the spotlight when she started playing on US poker sites. She was an on-air host for Sirius Satellite Radio, and then she hosted tournaments for PokerNews.

Michelle uses her UB download to play tournaments of all buy-ins. Her favorite type of tournament is one with bounties, but she also enjoys the deep stack structure. Players that enjoy deep structures are usually cash players, too, and Michelle is no exception. She can be found receiving Texas Hold Em hands at the 200NL to 600NL buy-ins.

It’s no doubt that she got lucky to go so far in the WSOP, and she has worked hard to stay prominent in the poker world. The poker community asked why she chose to endorse UB instead of a Full Tilt Poker download, but it definitely worked out just fine for her. She has a long way to go to catch up to the likes of Annie Duke, but she’s very young and most certainly has plenty of time!

Joe Sebok

Today’s entry will mention Joe Sebok, a poker pro that also encourages a UB bonus. Sebok is a relatively new face to the poker scene, but you should have heard of Barry Greenstein, his stepdad. Originally from San Francisco California, Sebok went pro back in 2005. He’s been encouraging the UB bonus since late 2009.

Tournament poker is Sebok’s specialty, and his live tournament winnings total almost $2 million. While he’s cashed in the WSOP 15 times, he’s still waiting for his first bracelet. His highest finish in the Main Event was 56th just last year. Because he’s primarily a tournament player, I’m curious to know whether or not he tries MTTs on a Full Tilt Poker download or uses a PokerStars bonus code from time to time. Since he’s a UB pro, he’ll definitely never disclose that information to the public!

Sebok is well known in the poker community. He founded PokerRoad.com with Greenstein, a website that features blogs, radio, and TV all related to poker. His co-host on the PokerRoad Radio is Gavin Smith, his good friend and fellow poker pro. You might have taken a look at the Internet show “Prop Bets” where Sebok and Smith can be seen competing with each other in different prop bets in things like mechanical bull riding and eating. This show developed from a prop bet that caused Sebok, the loser, to wear three costumes to the 2006 Main Event, including a diaper-wearing bear, Spider-Man, and Wonder Woman. He definitely knows how to have fun, and you can see that Sebok doesn’t always use poker downloads and tournaments to bring home the bacon.

Sebok hasn’t even reached his mid-thirties yet, and we can expect a lot more out of him as the years continue to roll on. He’s only been playing professionally for 5 years now, and it’s definitely possible that he’ll win a WSOP bracelet in the near future. He played on internet sites when he first learned to play poker, so you should do the same if you’re determined to become a better player. It wouldn’t surprise me if Sebok told you to avoid other sites like a Full Tilt or Carbon Poker download, though. UB is where it’s at!

Annie Duke

A couple weeks ago I described Phil Hellmuth because he’s part of the team that advertises UB and the UB bonus, and now I’m about to describe Annie Duke, another UB pro. One of the most prominent lady poker professionals around today, Duke earned a World Series of Poker title in 2004 in an Omaha event. She grew up in New Hampshire with her brother and sister. Her brother, Howard Lederer, was actually the person that taught her how to play poker.

Duke has been representing UB and the UB bonus for 10 years now. Many would agree that she is an excellent tournament player, seeing as she’s won over $4 million playing live MTT poker. Her highest cash in the WSOP Main Event was 10th in the year 2000. To make it more impressive, she was pregnant with her third kid at the time! She’s placed in the money in the WSOP 37 times, bringing her total WSOP cashes to $1.1 million in total, and in 2004 she won $2 million in the WSOP Tournament of Champions.

Being female helps but isn’t the sole reason Duke is a famous poker professional. She actually tutored Ben Affleck the year he won the California State Poker Championship back in 2004. She’s been on the Colbert Report (the first poker player to do so), she participated in the game show 1 vs 100 not just once but three times, and she must like game shows because she also showed up on Deal or No Deal once. She is also well known for participating in Celebrity Apprentice in 2009 where she placed second behind Joan Rivers even after collecting three times more money on behalf of her charity, Refugees International . Also consider that you’ll find her on UB’s Best Damn Poker Show, and you have to wonder how she ever has time to play any poker hands.

Duke is a proud supporter of American poker online and player rights. She has a huge problem with the rule that people are not free to represent poker sites on their clothes during certain televised live tournaments. Regarding the subject, she boldly said, “We are not even slaves. We’re people paying to pick the cotton.” Duke acknowledges the fact she’s one of only a few successful women in poker, but she disagrees with the fact that there are women’s only tournaments. In her words, “Poker is one of the few sports where a woman can compete on a totally equal footing with a man, so I don’t understand why there’s a ladies only tournament.” To support her stance, she will not sit in ladies only events.

Annie Duke is an excellent representative for poker in general and, of course, UB. When people see her on TV, it encourages them to download legal US poker sites and enjoy one of the best games around. If you haven’t already done so, you can make a UB download and also support online poker in the US.

The Poker Brat

One well known pro poker player that would give a thumbs up to a UB bonus would be Phil Hellmuth, a UB spokesman famous in the poker world for his ridiculous table antics and multiple World Series of Poker (WSOP) bracelets. Hellmuth was born in 1964 in Wisconsin where he went to University and eventually learned to play poker. Hellmuth married his wife, Kathy, and they moved to California where they have two sons.

You wouldn’t think it, but people are encouraged to earn their UB bonus when they find out that UB’s most prominent spokesman holds so many outstanding records. It’s just amazing to find out that he has earned bracelets in 11 WSOP events, winning the first one back in 1989 when he was just 24 years old. His most recent bracelet was won in 2007. He has the record for cashing the WSOP (75) and the largest number of final tables with 41. He ranks in the top ten for total WSOP winnings with $6.1 million won so far in his career. Strangely enough, Hellmuth has yet to win a World Poker Tour (WPT) MTT, although he does have 3 final tables under his belt. He’s actually been able to cash 11 times in WPT tournaments and he has $691k in total winnings. His multiple successes and accomplishments allowed him to be inaugurated into the Poker Hall of Fame in 2007.

It’s Hellmuth’s MTT poker success that caused him to become famous, but he is probably most well known for his antics and tantrums at the tables. The success he’s had over the years has helped him develop a large poker ego, and it takes little more than a suck out to have him raging. In the past he’s directed his outbursts to those who benefit from his bad luck, questioning their intelligence and ability to play the game. In the 2008 WSOP he actually received a penalty because he kept harassing someone that showed the table he’d bluffed Hellmuth off his hand with a weak suited hand. His multiple tantrums and overreactions over the years have earned him the nickname of “The Poker Brat”.

It looks like Hellmuth is making good use of his unique nickname, however. You can actually buy clothing or merchandise at www.PokerBrat.com, and he’s even written a book called Poker Brat. He’s the author of several books, actually, and he’s even made DVDs and a mobile phone game. He writes about interesting poker hands in a newspaper column called “Hand of the Week”, and he also has a couple blogs online. Add all his TV appearances and coaching opportunities, and you’ll see that Hellmuth has more going on than just tournament poker.

Online players, especially American players, get tons of information regarding a Full Tilt or PokerStars bonus code, but you’d be mistaken to not consider playing at UB too. Use a UB referral code and clear your bonuses by playing the same games that Hellmuth plays. With a lot of hard work and dedication, it’s possible to accomplish some of the things that Hellmuth has accomplished in his career. If you haven’t already done so, visit my previous entries for more information about playing at UB.
